The profession of perfumer is a complex and very rare profession. Only a few people in the world can boast of making a living from their passion for scents, but many of them are French. Michel Gérard was born in 1957 and now lives in Paris. However, it was not in the capital that he studied. Indeed, he was in high school in Grasse. Far from being an innocuous anecdote, this is a decisive choice for his future career. Indeed, Grasse is a Provencal town located not far from Nice which has been recognized worldwide since the 16th century for occupying a prominent place in the olfactory world. Capital of perfumery, it is surrounded by many fields of flowers and is the source of many masterpieces of our current perfumery. It was therefore in 1974 that Michel Girard graduated from the Lycée Fénelon in the city. Then, after having cut his teeth in various companies, he joined the Givaudan company in 1998. He is there today.
The olfactory successes of Michel Gérard
Today, Michel Girard has a wide range of creations and has a well-stocked CV. In addition, he worked for the Burberry house, having developed the Baby Touch and Touch For Women fragrances for them. Likewise, he created several essences for Cerruti like Cerruti 1881 Black For Men or Cerruti pour Homme. Christian Lacroix called on him for the Bazar pour Homme fragrance. Finally, Givenchy entrusted him with the development of Extravagance d’Amarige. The list of his creations is now particularly long. We could also cite his collaborations with Guy Laroche or even Azzaro. Nevertheless, it is indeed at Paco Rabanne that Michel Girard has undoubtedly signed one of the greatest successes of his career. In addition, he participated in the development of the iconic male juice 1 Million.
To this day, Michel Girard is still active. He occupies a position within the company Givaudan and his creativity seems limitless. Only the future will tell us what will be his next great success …
