Perfumery is a business sector that undoubtedly belongs to the world of luxury. What is more, fragrances are most often associated with emotions and arise from a subjective appreciation such as a work of art could be. Also, many perfumers are above all artists. This is particularly the case of perfumer Dora Baghriche. The latter is passionate about contemporary art and cultivates her love of beautiful things through her multiple scented creations. She says that she never tires of the surprise created by the many facets of her job, a profession that, according to her, corresponds to her fully.
Dora Baghriche’s career
Dora Baghriche was born in Algiers but very quickly left her native land to reach the south of France. Thus, she grew up in the region of Grasse, the world capital of perfumery. After having trained in this familiar universe via a training course within the Firmenich company, she joined the Parisian team of this company dedicated to fine fragrances. Thus, she had the chance to develop perfumes for the biggest brands such as Cacharel, Olfactive Studio, Salvadore Ferragamo or Versace. Likewise, Dora Baghriche always tries to combine her passion for perfumery with that for art. As such, she recently designed a perfume for Blobterre, a children’s exhibition established at the Georges Pompidou Center, by designer Matali Crasset.
Dora Baghriche’s signature
Dora Baghriche says she draws her inspiration from various places in the world of which she keeps an unforgettable memory. As such, even though there are many places that serve as her creative sources, she has made frangipani invading the evening air in Angkor one of her favorite scents. Nevertheless, the flowers of lemon and orange trees are also so many Mediterranean elements that remind him with happiness of his childhood. First and foremost, Dora Baghriche believes that perfumery is an area in which to indulge yourself. No fault of taste is more important to her than that of following trends at all costs. Dora Baghriche designs her juices as she sees fit and does not want to make absolutely what everyone is wearing.
In general, Dora Baghriche-Arnaud is a fairly independent perfumer, free as the air and integrating a strong dose of intuition in each of the paths she takes. This is in any case the philosophy that applies to its perfumery.
